Journeycheck
|
JourneyCheck provides rail commuters with real-time train and underground information. It is available on web, PDA and WAP platforms. There is also a section where you can sign up for email and SMS alerts. The sites are train company specific and they are usually accessed by a link from the train company's website. Currently 11 train companies use JourneyCheck. The application was designed to be configurable and skinnable for the different train companies. Skinning ranges from specifying colours and a logo to writing templates using a language similar to XSLT. The latter allows more seamless integration into the train company's website. A lot of work went into making it resilient to loading - the web application is load balanced across a number of servers and there are different levels the web application can run on including Apache caching to serving a text only version. |
